These are two mighty little Ouch-less pillows, they help ease your ouch!

This is for a set of 1 post op/comfort pillow and 1 port pillow.

How it works:
The *porta pillow raised design of the Ouch-less pillow takes the pressure of the seat belt off your port or pacemaker which helps ease your ouch. Wear it where you need it the most; over the port/pacemaker or on the port/pacemaker. It depends on how your seat belt fits you.

The Comfort/ post-Op pillow:

The comfort pillow can be used 10 different ways to bring you comfort. A little softness go a long ways!

1. Placed under your arm to ease the presser off your sore area from surgery.

2. Placed on chest between you and the seat belt.

3. Arm rest pillow, place under forearm, comfort from hard surfaces.

4. Breast support pillow, place under your breast when they are tender.

5. Between the breast.

6. Knee pillow, place between the knees while sleeping.

7. Lower Back pillow, place in the small of your back to aid back support.

8. Neck pillow, place at the back of the neck while resting.

9. IV tubes support, place under tubes to keep the weight off your body.

New addition to my Esty store

I have been busy making port-a- cath seat belt pillows! Some to sell and some to be donated to the Pensacola Cancer Center.

I came across this information while surfing the web. I had never heard of a chemo port and did a closer look. I found My Recipe for Portacath Pillows. I made one then another until I had twenty made….Wow what fun and for a good cause. Now to find some place to donate them to; Now that was another challenge. I could not find any one listed on the Cancer center web site to talk to or email. After looking for awhile I found a coordinator so I called her. She redirected me to Linda Wall at the Cancer Center. She was thrilled to received them and stated that no one was donated them to the center.

I found one place that sold them for $20.00, wow way too much!  Now I make some to give to the center and some to sell at $5.95 each. Part of each sales goes to making more for the center.

I have change the pattern a little instead of using 4 or 3.5 hook and loop tape I use 3″ of hook and loop tape that way you can tighten it up tighter on your seat belt.

This is a fun and easy project for any person or organization can do to help easy the pain of a port!

Happy sewing!

Fidget Lap Quilts, Daily Living Aids

DSC01713_22     DSC01716_2

Fidget Lap Quilts, I stumbled upon one like this on Pinterest and took a closer look at what they were about.

I have been quilting most of my life and love to quilt, but they are costly to make and how many quilts does one need. These on the other hand are very useful and so much one can add or change about them.

I had to try to see what it took to make them and to my surprise it took longer and a lot more thought into making one. **I had to find a place to put objects that worked together with enough space so the user could fidget with it without interference of another object. I had to make sure all items were wash able or removable for washing. Able to withstand someone playing with it. All seams had to be sewn on securely so it would not fall apart after the first usage.  I strive for 10 activities per fidget quilt.

The fidget lap quilt sports my lazy woman’s one stitch sew on binding. I may need to write a post on how to do that.

Fidget Lap Quilts are used to help comfort loved ones with  Dementia, Alzheimer, Sensory needs, Fidget, Stroke, Restless Fingers, Activity needs, Nervous car riders,  Stroke, ADHD, Autism, rehab patients, nursing home, hospital patients, Physical Therapy, and Special Education Classrooms.

They are designed to keep your loved one’s hands busy, like keeping them from playing with IV tubes or making holes in house furniture, etc.   By providing hand Activities it calms agitation, stimulate memory and exercise the hands of people with challenges.

  Basic Quilt Fabric: The tops of the Quilts are either plan or printed cotton. There is a middle layer of 100% polyester or 100% cotton quilt batting. The bottom is flannel or cotton. Bindings are made by me from cotton to match the quilt.

I layer the three parts together and sew them with an “H” pattern to keep them together as I add the activities. Activities are sewn through all three layers for extra strength while being used.

This Quilt has the following:

* Cotton Front with tea cup print

* Soft flannel  backing

* Zipper with shapes on zipper pull to help open and close zipper

* Denim pocket

* 3 page Fabric book to play with

* Buttons on a embroidery floss that move and make noise

* Strains of ribbon to play with

* Fake fur to cress

* Hidden noisy plastic within a square

* Picture holder/ Personal information with vinyl cover

* Satin binding for the one that love to play with satin!

* Collar with button and loop to open and close

* Green tube of netting to pull out and roll back up

All Quilts are recommended for “Hand Wash” only. Some items must be removed first. If machine washing is needed put in pillow case and tie close. Wash on gentle.

Made in a Pet and smoke free home.

Louise’s Chair Buddy’s

I am so excited with my newest project….I have started to build these small tables that can be used in front of a chair or couch. Great for children to do homework on or eat a meal while watching TV. They slide all the way up to the front of the chair. The Chair Buddy can be used next to the side of a bed or camper as well.

These Chair buddy’s are designed and build by me in my workshop. I have a few for sale at the Roadrunner’s daughter in Pensacola FL. I make them in a few different sizes,( 22″- 29″ high) x 12″ deep x (20″ to 24″) wide, made of all wood. The wood is sanded, painted, some are shabby chic and then the top is sealed with polyethylene and waxed.
